Get it today!

Your perfect golf swing is achievable

by Brent Bonnett

With the many factors that contribute to a successful golf swing, it can be a lifelong quest to achieve the perfect golf swing. But by breaking down golf swing components and addressing them individually, you can work towards a perfect golf swing and see improvements on the score card. Some of the basic areas to work on when trying to get to the perfect golf swing include grip, stance, ball position, alignment, flexibility, balance, and swing plane.

Your body limits how good your golf swing will be, so on your way to finding a perfect golf swing you will first need to reach an appropriate golf fitness level. The key to great golf fitness is flexibility. Flexibility will bring power to your golf swing and you will be able to increase your distance. Without being flexible, you will not be able to take a full golf swing, taking the club back far and finishing with a thorough follow-through. To improve flexibility, check out some easy golf exercises. Also, before each round of golf you should do some simple golf stretches to improve your flexibility and golf swing for the entire round.

The foundation of a perfect golf swing starts with your grip and stance. You want balance when it comes to your golf swing, and this begins with a solid stance. Your feet should be a little more than shoulders width apart. Your grip should be comfortable and not too tight. One sign that you may be gripping your golf club too tightly is if your hands begin to ache during your round or after you have finished playing.

Golf training aids are one way that many golfers work towards their perfect golf swing. Many easy to use golf training or teaching aids can be found online, such as golf impact indicators or golf swing trainers. Integrating equipment such as training aids into your golf practice routine will bring some great improvements to your golf swing and game on the course.

No matter how much you work on your perfect golf swing, if you arent using the right equipment you will always be hindered. Make sure you are using the right size golf clubs that have the right club shafts in them. Also, try and find a golf ball that is right for the type of golf game that you play.

Remember, you will never achieve the perfect golf swing without constant and dedicated practice. The best golfers spend countless hours on the driving range working on their golf swing. If you arent committed to spending the time necessary to work on your golf swing, you will never have the perfect golf swing for you.

Author: Brent Bonnett http://onlinegolfinfo.com

Quick Golf Ideas

The trajectory of a golf ball and the distance it travels depends on its initial trajectory, speed and spin, as well as what it's moving through (air). The air is not always the same. It varies in temperature, pressure, humidity and density. If there were no air whatsoever, the golf ball would not travel far. Likewise, if a ball is hit in air with no spin, it will not travel far.
...The Golf Channel

Golf Sounds Like a Great Idea
Too many would be golfers, particularly youngsters - head off to the local municipal course, hire a basic set of clubs and start hitting off the tee with no idea of how to hold the club, never mind striking the ball correctly. Even worse, there are those who limit practice to trying their hand in the local park - this is a dangerous and in many cases forbidden activity. The existence of the shouted warning "fore" on a course to indicate a ball in flight that may be close to other golfers is not simply for effect. A golf ball struck with force is a potentially lethal projectile and should never be used without regard for either safety or surroundings.
...mastering golf UK

To a beginning golfer hitting a golf ball seems easy until they try it. Golf can be a sometimes frustrating, and time-consuming game to learn. My recommendation is that players practice patience by not hurrying to the golf course to learn how to play. Do your learning on the practice range where your mind will not be on scoring, but on learning.
...PGA professional golf

Mental Game Tip
Since I'm not a psychologist I will not try to get deeply into how the mind works during a game of golf -- who knows anyway? -- everybody's different smile But whether you call it Golf Psychology, or Sport Psychology, or The Mental Game, The Mental Side of Golf, Trying to Get into the Zone, whatever you call it, from my experience the mental side of the game of golf really boils down to something simple: The most important thing you can do mentally to give yourself the best possible chance of success is to focus your attention on what you want to have happen.
...PGA professional golf

Give Your Spine The Forearm
Make sure you're on-plane at the top of the swing to guarantee solid ballstriking and increased accuracy. Notice in the photo at left how my right forearm is parallel to my spine, my left wrist is flat and my elbows and arms form a tight triangle. These are indications that I've rotated my shoulders into the backswing perfectly.
...Golf Tips magazine

Golf Related News

Ben Curtis Trusts Titleist From Tee-to-Green For Second Win of the Year

Mon, 18 Sep 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Leads Four-Win Week for Titleist Golf Ball Players

Harrington eyes Wales Open

Tue, 22 Apr 2008 11:25:40 GMT
Open champion Padraig Harrington will make his debut in this year's Wales Open at the Celtic Manor.

Show Off Your Team Spirit

Thu, 24 May 2007 00:00:00 GMT
With Collegiate Custom Golf Balls and packaging, New From Titleist.

TITLEIST INTRODUCES NEW DT CARRY AND DT ROLL GOLF BALLS

Thu, 24 Jan 2008 00:00:00 GMT
Provide Two Distinct Approaches to Distance for Average and Recreational Golfers

Golf Drivers Information

Our Featured Golf Writer

This is the secret you've been searching for. The
Golf Swing Secret...get it today!

Some Golf Tips

by Lee MacRae

Here are some great tips to help improve your game from tee-off to the final hole.

One way to hit the ball higher when driving [an especially useful strategy when the wind is behind you] is to make sure you hit the lower half of the ball. You can do this by teeing the ball at the normal height [half the ball lies above the top of the face club] then concentrating on hitting the ball out of the ground. You won't miss the ball, because there is just not enough room for the driver to pass through underneath it. And you shouldn't hit the ground either, because the only way you can knock the tee out of the ground is to hit the top of it.

Many golfers try to emulate Tiger Woods. In fact, Tiger's "two-pivot swing" is considered the modern swing to model your own after. Here is a Tiger tip:

In your backswing, your upper body will turn and while turning, you want to let your left shoulder move across and to the right so that your left shoulder is above your right foot at the top of your backswing. Begin your forward swing as you always do but attempt to finish with your right shoulder above your left foot (as if you are moving slightly ahead of the shot). By doing so, you will finish your swing in a more vertical position and look like Tiger!

If you do this just right, you'll be rewarded with longer distance on your shot.

Warm up and stretch your muscles before you tee off. If you have ever been to a live pro golf event you will notice that the golfers don't just arrive at the course and immediately head to the tee box. Instead they go to the driving range, stretch for awhile and then hit some balls. It is a fact that when your muscles are warmed up they perform better and in turn positively influence your golf swing. So try to arrive at the golf course a few minutes early to loosen up and take a few swings.

We hope these simple tips help you to drive the ball straighter and farther. And that will happen if you take them with you to the driving range and work on them diligently. Use them whenever you meet the specific situation on the faiway, the bunker or on the putting green and see your success happen.

Find a great golf training aid and improve your game!

Let's Talk About Golf

Golf Club Irons

Something important to keep in mind: You are under no obligation to buy your new clubs from the pro who gave you your clubfitting. It is perfectly OK to take the specs you've received and shop around for a better price. However, if you do this, make sure you have all the necessary data. The fitter should be able to provide you with every measurement needed.
Improve your golf swing with a great golf training aid!

Iron Game Tip
A very important factor in striking the ball solidly and consistently with your irons is getting the "bottom" of your swing in front of the ball (i.e., the lowest spot in the swing's arc on the target side of the ball). Divot diagram This promotes contacting the ball before the ground (this is a good idea). You can develop a feel for this by scratching a line on the ground with a tee, or making a row of tees spaced about 6 inches apart, perpendicular to your target line. Straddle the line and take divots until you consistently make the divots in front of (toward the target from) the line, or row of tees. You can certainly hit balls this way too -- with the balls on the line or between each of the tees. Once you can do this you'll hit your iron shots much more solidly and with more control.
...PGA professional golf

Adams Lady Insight Belle Fairway Wood

Get Behind. Theres no leverage in the golf swing if youre ahead of the ball. Good players move away from the target slightly in the backswing and dont pass the ball until after impact.
Keep yourself in the cooling shade with a great golf umbrella.

Bottom Out
Notice how the logo on my shirt has moved closer to the target at impact than it was at address. The bottom of the swing will occur under the logo, making it a must to get it past the ball if you want to make ball-first contact.
...Golf Tips magazine

Today's Golf News

A Super Sunday for Holmes. There are three golf tips for beginners that I was given by my instructor when I started, and that has really been a big help to me.

1. Don't Break the Bank With Your First Set of Clubs

As a beginner, you are not going to get all of the benefits that come from a top of the line set of golf clubs. As a beginner, you are not going to have the consistent contact or club head speed needed. Instead, think about buying a cheaper set, or better yet, get yourself a used set. You may also be able to use a free set from one of your more experienced friends until you figure out which clubs would be best for you.

2. Be Aware of Who is Giving You Instruction

Your friends, relatives, and sometimes people who don't even know you will think they have the golf tips for beginners that will fix all of your problems. Granted, if you have friends who are pretty good golfers, it may help to listen to them when you are first starting. However, to really understand the game, as a beginner, get your instruction from a professional. Golf pros are experienced in fixing swing problems and explaining things to you in terms of how they affect ball flight. Lessons are available at most any golf course, and even just a couple will really help set a good foundation for your game.

3. Enjoy Yourself

It may sound simple, but one of the best golf tips for beginners is to just have fun with the game. Keep in mind that you are probably not going to be getting your PGA card. Being competitive is fine, and of course you are going to want to continue to improve, but golf is a leisure game. Take your time out there and have fun with your friends.

These three golf tips for beginners can make all of the difference in the world. The game is avidly played there and the oldest golf course in the world is situated at Musselburgh and is known as The Old Links. The Old Links has hosted golf as we have come to know it today since 1672 though earlier versions had also been played and known of in the British Isles as well as other countries of Northern Europe many centuries earlier. It is primarily an upper-class sport but has increased in popularity and become accessible to almost everyone today.
Get greater distance on your drives with great Wilson golf balls from our online store.

Titanium Offset Fairway Woods

If you order your clubs online, you might be able to provide a series of measurements (i.e., arm length) for a "cyberfitting." Hitting into a net simply doesn't provide the necessary feedback because the pro won't see ball flight.
Improve your golf swing with the great Medicus golf aid!

Kneework
The right knee should remain flexed, but it must rotate on the backswing to allow the hips to complete their turn. The shorter, firmer swing will enhance accuracy without sacrificing too much distance [you'll still hit longer than you would with a fairway wood]. But the key here is to cut down on the wrist cock and make a three-quarter swing. In other words, you shouldn't really give yourself an opportunity to hit and off line drive

Jack Nicklaus once give a clinic years ago at the Inverarry Country Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jack hit 12 tee shots of various trajectories from high to low. Not once was the tee knocked out of the ground and in all cases he elected to leave the height of the tee the same - he had the ball teed high. An effective optical aid you may want to use would be another golf tee other than the one the ball is teed upon. Note in the illustration, the tee is angled in the level to sightly upward position in relation to the ground. By placing the secondary tee across from the ball being struck, the student can set for himself the path the clubhead must be on in order to strike the ball with a solid, level blow.

More Thoughts On Golf

Custom Golf Putters

When buying used golf clubs make sure graphite shafts don't have worn areas or indentations that could cause weakness. Test the torque by twisting the grip and head in opposite directions. If there isn't great resistance, it's a sign of weakness. For steel shafts, look down the shaft to make sure it hasn't been bent back into shape. Make sure all shafts in a set are the same so the clubs feel similar from shot to shot.
Carry your golf clubs with distinction with a new Titleist golf stand bag!

Putting With Symmetry
Despite a great setup position and solid stroke, deceleration causes a lot of putts to miss the target. Making the length and the speed of the stroke the same back and through is a fundamental fix for deceleration and also a great way to develop your speed control. Try this drill: Place a tee equidistant from the ball on the backstroke and followthrough. Practice putting, keeping the putterhead at the tee on both ends of the stroke. Increase or decrease the speed to hit the ball different distances.
...Golf Tips magazine

Golf Car

Taking golf lessons can be an expensive, time-consuming effort. And like any good or service that will cost money and require time, you should be careful before you buy. It's OK to shop around for a golf instructor - in fact, it's recommended in order to find the best fit.
Get greater distance on your drives with great Strata golf balls from our online store.

Headline News About Golf

Titleist Announces Free Personalization Golf Ball Promotion

Mon, 10 Apr 2006 00:00:00 GMT

Titleist Introduces Four New Putter Families to Scotty Cameron Franchise.

Thu, 21 Apr 2005 00:00:00 GMT

golf bags

Indoor Putting Green Information

Our Featured Golf Article

You will find a lot of easy tips and techniques in this eBook to quickly transform your golf game and add 20 yards to your drive!

Wondering which golf clubs you should buy?

By: Lee MacRae

With so many different makes and types of golf clubs on the market, it is no wonder beginners, let alone the more experienced golfer, can become easily confused when it comes to buying clubs.

Read along as we discuss the types available and what they each can do for your game of golf.

First, are you between five and six feet tall? Then standard clubs will most likely work for you. That principle applies to both men and women. Taller or shorter? Then custom clubs may now come in to the picture.

Cast or forged iron clubs. Which?

The quick answer is "go cast iron".

The major reason? Because of the larger "sweet spot" you tend to find on the cast iron clubs. That term refers to the area in the middle of the face of the club head where the ball should be struck for maximum distance and accuracy. The larger "sweet spot" you have, the less likely it is that you will hit a bad shot You can still be a little "off center" and the ball is still struck well because you have a larger margin of error. It is for that main reason the beginners are steered towards cast iron clubs. Without a steady consistant swing, a larger striking area will produce better shots overall. That is why clubs like "Big Bertha" came on the market. The large oversized head obviously gives a much larger sweet spot than a normal driver. Average golfers get longer and straighter drives on a more consistant basis.

By contrast, forged iron golf clubs are "harder to hit" a good shot with as they have a smaller sweet spot.

So why even make golf clubs out of forged iron, you ask?

Because the "softer" forged metal gives the golfer a better feel than the harder cast iron does. The more seasoned player, especially the pros on the circuit, don't need that larger sweet spot. They have a more consistant swing plane and strike the ball with far more accuracy. They use the "feel" of the the forged iron clubs to influence the flight of the ball in a way that a beginner or average player can't.

The shaft of the club is the next item to look at. What will it be made of? A composite or steel?

The major criteria here is club speed. An average golfer will have a club head speed of 80-94 mph. Lower speeds usually means you should look at a composite shaft. The problem with lower speed is you get less distance on your shots. You need to generate more speed [and more power] or find some way to compensate until you can. And that is where the composite golf club shaft enters the picture. It gives you a lot more distance than you would get with your normal swing and a steel shaft.

For golfers with faster swing speeds, you don't necessarily need more distance. What you really want is more control. A steel tube shaft will give you that control to go along with your acceptable distance.

Have your swing speed determined by visiting your local pro shop or a golf store that is equiped with a swing speed radar device. Or simply buy a small radar device for yourself. You can find some small devices that operate by batteries but are effective enough to determine your swing speed.

With simply these few starting hints, it is ordinarily best if you rent a few different sets of clubs as you play and take note of how each club helps or impedes your game. You are searching to learn your personal strengths as well as weaknesses. Use as many clubs as you can beg, borrow, steal or rent. The more you use, the more you will learn about your own game.

If you implement these tips and work on them, you will be certain to develop a better drive within a short period of time. Just keep on practicing and working on your improvement. It's only a matter of time before your scores begin to drop.

Find a great golf club and improve your game!

Additional Info On Golf Today

Burton Golf Bags

Get New Grips That Fit. New grips can soup up your clubs, and your game, overnight. But make sure you get ones that fitgrips that are too big encourage slicing.
Protect your golf equipment on your trip with a great golf travel case.

Controlling the Course
In order to play the course well, you need to control the ball, it's a vicious circle. Control the ball, control the club, the body must be doing the right thing, the mind must be at ease and then you can control the course. We get two types of golfers at our school. Those who hit there ball and follow it around the golf course and it leads them on a very merry chase, and those who actually pick a target and direct, not steer, their golf ball toward the target. Basically, golfers swing different, but they all play the same. It's just a different target that they're playing to, a very long hitter is picking one out at 300 yards, a shorter hitter maybe picking one at 125 yards, but everybody needs to pick targets and break the course up into manageable bits of real estate. Very much like you'd cut your steak at night, you cut it in size bits that you're comfortable chewing and that's the way you have to chew up the golf course. So learn to control the golf ball, if you can control the ball, you must be controlling the club. If you're controlling the club, your body must be doing the right thing. If your body is doing the right thing then the minds probably in the right place and has been programmed correctly. Then, and only then, do you have any chance of controlling the golf course.
...by Jack Lumpkin

Learning how to aim is vital if your to have success in scoring. The clubface is the only thing that will make contact with the ball, therefore the clubface should be aimed towards the target with the shoulders paralleling the target line. Do not take the stance first. Often, this improper rotation assumes the form of an inside takeaway, where the hands and forearms roll clockwise and rotate the clubface open. That can be said to apply to men as well as to women. Taller or shorter? Then I suggest you take a look at custom made clubs. It will help your game considerably.

Cast or Forged Clubs?

The answer normally is "cast iron".

Why do we say that? Because of the larger "sweet spot" you tend to find on the cast iron clubs. That term refers to the area in the middle of the face of the club head where the ball should be struck for maximum distance and accuracy. The bigger the sweet spot, the better chance of hitting well it every time. It makes it a little easier to hit the "bulls eye" every time on your shots. Beginners especially benefit from that standard cast iron feature. Without a steady consistant swing, a larger striking area will produce better shots overall. This is the major reason why you see larger or even "oversized" clubs made, especially the oversized drivers today. These clubs allow for a larger sweet spot and make the game a lot easier for the average player

Conversely, forged iron golf clubs have a much smaller sweet spot and it is far more difficult to hit a ball well with this kind of club.

So why are forged clubs even made?

Well, because they are made of a softer steel, they offer a better "feel" on each and every shot. The more experienced player has a much more defined and repeatable swing, allowing them to hit the smaller sweet spot with much more consistancy. They don't need that larger "margin of error" the beginner needs. And now, the better "feel" allows him or her the added advantage of being able to manoevre and/or "shape" each shot to the circumstances as needed.

The next thing to look at is the shaft itself. Will we get one made from steel? Or will it be a composite material?

The important touchstone here is golf club speed. An ordinary golf player will have a club velocity of 80-94 mph. Slower speeds normally means looking at a shaft made from composite material. With a slower swing speed comes less distance on your drives. Less distance means more shots needed to reach the putting green. Not a good thing if you want to lower your score. Composite shafts will allow you to get that much needed distance on your shots. And even within the composite shaft class, you will find variations in flex and materials that will affect your game.

Work on these tips and make sure you tee off with a positive mindset. The more you practice and implement what you learn, the more confidence you will gain in your ability to hit it straight and long. And watch your scores begin to plummet!

Improve your putting stroke with a super home golf putting green and watch your scores plummet!

Golf Snippets

When you want to get some extra distance out of your drives, its natural to think that your right or dominant hand (for right-handed golfers) should supply the power. In reality, however, maximum power is a result of a left-hand lead.
...The Golf Channel

Custom Golf Putters

When buying used golf clubs make sure graphite shafts don't have worn areas or indentations that could cause weakness. Test the torque by twisting the grip and head in opposite directions. If there isn't great resistance, it's a sign of weakness. For steel shafts, look down the shaft to make sure it hasn't been bent back into shape. Make sure all shafts in a set are the same so the clubs feel similar from shot to shot.
Carry your golf clubs with distinction with a new Titleist golf stand bag!

Use Your Body For Power
Every good golfer knows that power comes from the body, not the arms. To learn to power the club with your body instead of your arms and hands, put the club behind the ball at address, with your body in a dead-stop position. Without taking a backswing, try to drag the ball into the air. If you're a player who uses his or her hands to control the club, you'll probably struggle at first. However, you'll quickly find that once you start moving the club with your body, you'll begin to get the ball in the air more consistently. This helps you turn fully through the ball on the downswing.
...Golf Tips magazine

Golf truly is a great equalizer because it doesn't discriminate. Finally, the wonderful saying "What the mind conceives, the body can achieve" really drives home this point that the only limits we have in our lives are in our "minds".
...PGA

Golf Related News

McGrane celebrates China victory

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 10:09:49 GMT
Ireland's Damien McGrane wins by nine strokes at the China Open to claim his first European Tour title.

Vaughn Taylor Repeats Winning Feat in Record-Setting Fashion at Reno-Tahoe Open

Mon, 22 Aug 2005 00:00:00 GMT

Champion's Choice

Mon, 01 May 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Jay Haas Trusts Titleist from Tee-to-Green in Back-to-Back Victories.

Titleist Launches New Tour-Proven Pro Titanium 905 Drivers

Fri, 18 Mar 2005 00:00:00 GMT
905T and 905S Drivers Find Early-Season Success with Players Across Worldwide Professional Tours

hybrid golf clubs
clone golf clubs
golf putters
golf tournament gifts | golf equipment | golf balls

Why I Like Golf

Featured Golf Article

You will find a lot of easy tips and techniques in this eBook to quickly transform your golf game and add 20 yards to your drive!

For The Beginner - Cast Iron Golf Clubs Or Forged?

By: Lee MacRae

Are you looking to buy new golf clubs? Finding it difficult to determine what will work the best for you? Newcomers especially can become bewildered by the large variety of golf clubs you see when you are looking to buy.

Follow along as we examine what is available on the market today and what they can do for you...and your golf game.

As a rule of thimb, it should be noted that "off the shelf" golf clubs will work for most everyone standing between five and six foot in heightl. That can be said to apply to men as well as to women. There are enough standard clubs on the market that you should be able to find ones to suit the rest of your needs in a golf club.

If you are outside the heights for standard clubs, then you may want to look at getting custom clubs made just for you.

Cast Iron or Forged Iron Golf Club?

For most folks, the standard cast iron golf clubs are the best way to go.

And there is a reason for that. The answer centers on a particular feature of the cast iron club - a larger "sweet spot". That refers to the area right smack dab in the middel of the club face where you are supposed to hit the ball. The bigger the sweet spot, the better chance of hitting well it every time. It makes it a little easier to hit the "bulls eye" every time on your shots. It is for that main reason the beginners are steered towards cast iron clubs. Until their swing plane is more developed, they will have an easier time striking the ball on a consistant basis with the cast iron club. That is why clubs like "Big Bertha" came on the market. The large oversized head obviously gives a much larger sweet spot than a normal driver. Average golfers get longer and straighter drives on a more consistant basis.

With forged iron clubs you have the exact opposite. A smaller sweet spot that makes your drives that much harder to hit well.

So why are forged clubs even made?

Because the "softer" forged metal gives the golfer a better feel than the harder cast iron does.

The next consideration is the material for the shaft. Steel or composite?

The major criteria here is club speed. An average golfer will have a club head speed of 80-94 mph. Lower speeds usually means you should look at a composite shaft. With a slower swing speed comes less distance on your drives. Less distance means more shots needed to reach the putting green. Not a good thing if you want to lower your score. And that is where the composite shaft material comes in. The composite shaft will give you longer drives than you will normally get with your low swing speed and steel shafted golf clubs.

For those of you with faster swing speeds, and subsequenlty good distances, steel shafted clubs will give you a lot more control on your shots. This is very similar to the advantages of iron over cast clubs.

Determining your own swing speed is not difficult. If you don't have a local pro shop with the right equipment, you can find small microwave Doppler radar devices that are run by AAA batterieson the market. You simply set it near your tee and swing away.

With just these few starting hints, it is generally best if you rent a few different sets of clubs as you play and take note of how each club assists or hinders your game. You are searching to determine your personal strong points and weak points. Try out the diverse types and sorts of clubs available to you and see what works best for your own game.

If you implement these tips and work on them, you will be certain to develop a better drive within a short period of time. Just keep on practicing and working on your improvement. It's only a matter of time before your scores begin to drop.

Start our right with a great beginners's golf training aid now!

Some Golf Ideas

Torque It Up!
A good backswing creates torque and is achieved by rotating the body away from the ground using the feet as an anchor. Except for unusually flexible players, the knees, hips, core, back and shoulders should all be used to create torque. Once you get the feel of creating leverage against the ground, your power will increase significantly.
...Golf Tips magazine

Cheap Golf Equipment

Check Your Lofts And Lies
If you play a lot or practice off range mats, your irons and wedges need to be checked and adjusted every year.
Buy yourself a new golf stand bag today!

Cobra Golf Irons

When using a wood, an easy, unforced, sweeping motion is used. You are trying to hit behind the middle of the golf ball and the club sweeps over the top of the grass as you come through the ball. Irons need a more upright/ downward swing. You are trying to hit down toward the middle-bottom of the golf ball and the club will continue slightly into the ground as you follow through. NOTE: You must hit the ball first, then let the club follow through as it should. If you are hitting the ground first, adjust your position to the ball at address.
Carry your golf clubs with distinction with a new Mizuno golf stand bag!

Custom Golf Equipment

Handle Leads Hands. It is often associated with executive businessmen and while it is true that golf is a particularly popular choice with many businessmen, it is also popular in other walks of life. There are a number of good reasons to take up golf but the only real way to find out if it is a good choice for you is to give it a go. You should be able to borrow or rent some clubs in order to play a couple of rounds of golf because a set of clubs can prove fairly expensive if you only use them a couple of times before putting them in the attic.

Golf is a healthy sport. As well as getting you out in the fresh air it also exercises the heart, the lungs and many muscles when you are walking round the course. It may not seem much, but playing a round of golf every week is a very good way of helping to prevent heart disease and other illnesses.

Golf can be a good way to socialize. Visiting the clubhouse after a round of golf gives you the opportunity to meet new people and chat to friends about how your round went and your life in general. As another aspect of this, it also gives you the opportunity to network if you are a businessman.

The modern golf game is centered around perfect shots, scientific practice and ability. Gone are the days of wearing plus fours and cloth caps and in are the days of larger heads, metal woods and graphite shafts. While talent and ability are obviously the most important factors, there is certainly a lot of equipment around that claims to improve different aspects of your game.

Article Source: http://www.golfarticles.net

John Rivers is owner of The Golf Champ http://www.thegolfchamp.com/

Thoughts On Golf

Collectible Golf Equipment

Yes, golf lessons are expensive. But some are more expensive than others. Generally, the more expensive instructors are the ones with more experience, more accolades and who are attached to a more upscale golf facility. But there are lots of teaching pros out there who are less expensive but still very good. Decide how much you are willing to spend before you start shopping, and stick to it.
Get greater distance on your drives with great Titleist golf balls from our store.

Womens Golf Bags

Add More Wedges. Its easier to fill distance gaps with new wedges than with tons of practice. Buy Some Long Tees. Your new driver will be easier to hit.
Get great staff golf bags at even greater prices!

I cant tell you how many people come to my lesson tee and say, If I could just get rid of my baseball swing, then all my problems would be solved! My initial thought is always: I wish you had a baseball swing, because it would help you play better golf.
...The Golf Channel

Once the motion in your swing has started, there should be no interruption. It should be a smooth flowing motion from start to finish; not a series of abrupt actions. To teach your muscles the proper feel is to realize that the physical movements of the body determine how one swings the club. This is why a correct grip is extremely important since it's the only contact you have with the club and controls the clubface angle.
...PGA professional golf

Headline News About Golf

Kirk Hanefeld: Diary of a Champions Tour Rookie #2

Wed, 17 May 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Kirk Hanefeld, Director of Golf Operations at The International in Bolton, Massachusetts and Titleist Staff Member for 25 years, does not turn 50 until May 24, but he secured his Champions Tour card for 2006 with an impressive runner-up finish at Qualifying School in November. We hope you enjoy them.

During set up, start with your front foot in line with the ball, to give it more loft. In addition, shift your front hip slightly higher than your rear hip, and shift your front shoulder slightly lower than your rear shoulder. When you go for your backswing, you should shift your weight backward. This will give your swing more power.

You're driving will improve if, before you swing, you draw a mental picture of:

1. Your position at the top of your swing

2. The clubhead swinging through the impact area

3. Where you want your club to finish up [the best way to do this is to pick out a target on the horizon and swing your club toward it]

These images represent the three keys to any good swing: the backswing, the impact, and the follow-through.

When addressing the ball with your driver, you must be loose and relaxed. Do not tighten up over the golf ball. It is important to waggle the club back and forth a few times in order to create some flow to start the golf swing. This action will promote proper rhythm and tempo.

Remember that your golf eqiupment is not the whole story. Techinique plays a large part in how long and straight you drive the ball. Diligently practice using tips like these and your will see a great deal of improvement in your teee shots.

To get a great golf training aid to improve your game go to golf training aids online!

Additional Info On Golf Today

Practice grounds
Many facilities have practice grounds, which provide an ideal environment in which to get to grips with the basics. If there is a professional in residence, arranging some lessons will ensure that the new player begins developing good habits right from the off. This is a much better option than finding further up the learning curve that some of the less beneficial aspects of your technique are difficult to straighten out. Remember that some golfers find such bad habits can last a lifetime.
...mastering golf UK

The Grain affects the roll! Grain is mostly seen on the fringe of the green. Putts with grain roll faster and farther, against the grain slower and not so far. Check from both sides of your ball as well as behind the ball when lining up. The appearance of the grass shows the grain. If it looks shiny the grain is away from you. If dull, the grain is towards you.
...World Golf

A Hybrid Or Two, Or Three
If you're the last holdout in your foursome to resist the hybrid trend, stop it. They're not a trend at all.
...Golf Tips magazine

Yardage Has Been Lost
The downside of this shot-making decision is that yardage has been lost and, therefore, a possible birdie opportunity has been missed because there is still a fair amount of ground to be made up before the putting surface can be reached. The solution is to hit the ball so that it bends around the trees at the right moment and makes a greater distance down the fairway, resulting in an approach shot much nearer the hole. The skill called for here is to draw the ball, hitting it initially on a path to the right before it curves round to the left, avoiding the trees and leaving a more desirable lie.
...mastering golf UK

More Golf News

The #1 Ball in Golf

Thu, 08 Feb 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Titleist is the #1 ball for more players and more champions across the worldwide professional tours. If you keep your elbows together and in front of your center (the upper part of your body) in the hitting area centrifugal force will create club head speed. The faster you can move the body in the forward swing without sacrificing a smooth rhythmic tempo the more club head speed you will develop. The left arm will rotate and the right arm will extend and cross over the left, just as a home run hitter's arms react. It is imperative that you keep the body moving to the finish. Otherwise the arms and hands will deliver prematurely.

You'll generate a lot of power if you forget about building up the muscles in your body and concentrate instead on whipping the hips. Look at golfing legend Gary player. He's only 5'7" tall, but he hits the ball a long way by moving his hips as fast as possible for right to left in the downswing. But not so fast that he loses control of the swing. The idea is to have the hips moving to the left, where they'll open naturally. If you keep your head behind the ball through impact, you'll form a sort of human catapult that will send your ball soaring.

Don't try and hit the ball hard. Simply hitting the ball as hard as you can results in a tense and inefficient physical swing. You can end up achieving the opposite of what you wanted and land the ball way short. A relaxed swing and a relaxed attitude will achieve more accuracy and generally more distance.

Remember that your golf eqiupment is not the whole story. Techinique plays a large part in how long and straight you drive the ball. Diligently practice using tips like these and your will see a great deal of improvement in your teee shots.

Find a great golf training aid and improve your game!

Thoughts On Golf

Some things to know and practice: First, and most important search and ask around about a respected golf instructor in your area, and get them to give you information on their program prior to starting an instructional series. You don't want someone giving you advice who is not qualified, and can impart poor information that can create bad habits.
...PGA professional golf

Tee the Ball Higher. The old adage has always been that the top of the driver should be about halfway up the ball when it is teed up. However, with a 460cc driver, I like to see you set the ball high enough on a peg such that the top of the driver is no more than one-third of the way up the ball. Of course, this means that the standard 2 1/8-inch tee will not be long enough to accommodate. You will need a tee at least 3 inches in length, but likely a little longer than this.
...Golf Help

To keep the clubface in the correct position throughout the swing, the left wrist must move in a flat position. What I mean by flat is in relation to the back of the left forearm, and the back of the left hand for right-handed players with the opposite for the left-handed players. To deviate from this position will roll the clubface out of position.
...Golf Week

Today's Golf News

Titleist Tour Report: Chrysler Classic of Greensboro

Fri, 06 Oct 2006 00:00:00 GMT
This week's Titleist Tour Report from the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro features Titleist staff player Eric Axley who earned his first PGA Tour victory three weeks ago at the Valero Texas Open.

Titleist is the Overwhelming Tee-to-Green Equipment Favorite at U.S. Amateur

Tue, 29 Aug 2006 00:00:00 GMT

TITLEIST INTRODUCES NEW DT CARRY AND DT ROLL GOLF BALLS

Thu, 24 Jan 2008 00:00:00 GMT
Provide Two Distinct Approaches to Distance for Average and Recreational Golfers

Total Body Training with PGA Tour Player Troy Matteson on the Next ''Golf Fitness Academy Presented by Titleist''

Mon, 14 May 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Learn exercises to target the chest, core and legs and improve strength and stability in the golf swing.

Believe in your Dream. Finding it difficult to determine what will work the best for you? Newcomers especially can become bewildered by the large variety of golf clubs you see when you are looking to buy.

Follow along as we discuss each type and what may be best for you.

First, take note of your height. Standard golf clubs are designed for individuals bewteen five and six feet. And that holds equally for males and females. By looking for standard clubs uing the hints given here, you should find something that will work well for you.

Anyone taller or shorter should take a look at custom clubs to get the proper fit.

Cast or Forged Golf Club?

For most folks, the standard cast iron golf clubs are the best way to go.

Why do we say that? Very simply because standard cast iron clubs tend to have a larger "sweet spot".

Which begs the question. Why make forged iron clubs?

Well, because they are made of a softer steel, they offer a better "feel" on each and every shot. The better player, with a more refined and "repeatable" swing, can use this "feel" to shape or control his shot in a way that the beginner can't. The better player doesn't need that larger sweet spot because he can strike the ball dead center with far more consistancy. He trades that off for more control.

The next consideration is the material for the shaft. Steel or composite?

The significant factor here is club speed. A typical golfer will have a club head velocity between 80-94 mph. A slower swing speed usually signifies you had better think of using a shaft made from composite material . Slower swing speeds mean less distance on your shots. Not a good thing. And that is where the composite golf club shaft enters the picture. It gives you a lot more distance than you would get with your normal swing and a steel shaft.

On the other hand, if you already have good distance on your shots due to good swing speed, you can add some touch and feel to your game very similar to that obtained by using the forged iron clubs. You get the best of both worlds.

Visit your local golf pro shop or look for a store that offers custom work and they will help you to determine your own club head speed and which type of shaft you should use. Or you can buy one of the many swing speed radar devices on the market and clock your speed yourself.

With only these few starting tips, it is typically best if you rent a few different sets of clubs as you play and take note of how each club serves or handicaps your game. You are looking to ascertain your own strengths as well as weaknesses. Check out the assorted types and varieties of golf clubs you may find in a rental shop, for example, and discover what works best for you.

If you implement these tips and work on them, you will be certain to develop a better drive within a short period of time. Just keep on practicing and working on your improvement. It's only a matter of time before your scores begin to drop.

Find a training aid to learn the correct golf grip today!

Some Quick Golf Information

First-Class Travel Bag
Be sure to check out Club Glove's Last Bagit's indestructible.
...Golf Tips magazine

Get New Grips That Fit
New grips can soup up your clubs, and your game, overnight. Every golfer swings and grips the club differently. Over 90 percent of golfers use the Vardon or overlapping grip. Players with smaller hands sometimes find the interlocking grip, with the little finger of the right hand interlocked with the index finger of the left hand, works best for them. Players with smaller should use a baseball type grip.
...Golf Instruction Guide

You cant fire a gun unless you pull the trigger, right? A similar concept also applies to the golf swing, which also usually requires a trigger move to get the body moving. Now, not everyone has a trigger, some manage to swing well from a static position to a dynamic position. But for the rest of us who often find confusion when it comes to where to start the golf swing, a trigger move can help you start swinging in a fluid and consistent manner.
...golf news

Headline News About Golf

An email conversation with Martin Kaymer: 'I have had a taste of Augusta. It is a great experience'

Mon, 07 Apr 2008 00:00:01 +0100

You are playing in your first Masters this week. What did you make of Augusta on your first visit there recently, with Fanny Sunesson? Hilly. Very hilly. Fanny and I just walked the course, because she thought if I played I would be focusing on my swing and not on the course. I was really impressed by the shape of the course, the shape of the holes. And the greens are so fast. On the ninth green, I put a couple of balls on the left side and the pin was right front. I made a couple of putts and my first three putts went all the way down there on to the fairway. That gave me a taste of what can happen in the tournament. I just see it as a great experience this early in my career. The first goal is to make the cut.

Titleist Blazes Worldwide Leaderboards in 2007

Tue, 11 Dec 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Titleist Golf Ball Momentum Reaches New Heights

Poulter continues his dance into the Masters spotlight

Sat, 12 Apr 2008 00:00:01 +0100

Ian Poulter is not the type to cringe in embarrassment when seeing images of
himself being played on loop on the American networks. Indeed, it is fair to
assume that the Englishman revelled as the world watched re-run after re-run
of Thursday's hole-in-one. He certainly appeared hell-bent yesterday on
continuing his golfing dance in the spotlight.

Believe in your Dream. Here are some quick tips to help improve your own shots from the sand.

Trying to a hit tee from under your ball is a good drill for getting your drives in the air. It's also a good drill for sand play. Here's how it's done: Tee up your ball in a bunker, and tee it up high. It is the tee from under the ball. Now tee it so that the tee is just barely showing. Hit it out again. Now position the ball so that no part of the tee is visible, the bottom of the ball is flush with the sand. Practice until you can consistently hit the tee out of the sand, then play the same shot while pretending that the tee is still under the sand. The lesson here is that the golfer hits the sand and the sand lifts the ball out of the bunker. So at no point did you think of hitting the ball itself.

Because every golfer wants to get up and down from greenside sand, there is always a great pressure to hit the ball close from a bunker. The fact is, however, that a top pro who gets up and down half the time is doing very well indeed. For this reason you should not concentrate on hitting sand shots to tap-in range [that is, to within three feet] as you would do for a long putt. Focus instead on hitting to within a target that's 12 to 15 feet in diameter. That gives you up to 7 1/2 feet to play with on each side of the hole can be much easier bull's-eye to deal with. You'll be more relaxed and will hit the ball even closer.

Excessive wrist action can wreck a golf shot. It usually leads to topping or blading, which in a greenside bunker can be especially ruinous. There is usually not much golf course around greens, and a ball blade is out of a bunker could end up in a water hazard, out of bounds, or in some other unplayable lie. It is a good idea, therefore to hit all sand shots with stiff wrists, even those that require you to cock your wrists early on the backswing. Remember; no wrists, no risk.

Once you have a feel for the basics of playing from sand, you can easily understand some of the finer points of bunker play, and you will find it easy to adapt your technique to different types of sand challenges and lies. Make your golf game more enjoyable with good sand play.

Practice anytime and anywhere with a good golf net today!

Golf Snippets

To learn how variations of the grip affect ball flight. Experiment with slight variations of your grip. Observe how the changes affect the flight of the ball. A weak grip encourages a slice or fade. A strong grip encourages a hook or a draw. The V.s formed by the index finger and thumbs on both hands should point between the chin and right shoulder.
...PGA of America

The trajectory of a golf ball and the distance it travels depends on its initial trajectory, speed and spin, as well as what it's moving through (air). The air is not always the same. It varies in temperature, pressure, humidity and density. If there were no air whatsoever, the golf ball would not travel far. Likewise, if a ball is hit in air with no spin, it will not travel far.
...The Golf Channel

Positioning of the Hands
As with any stroke, the path of the ball will be dictated by the positioning of the hands and feet, so these should be adjusted in order to send the ball right with the correct amount of spin to curve it round. The clubface should remain square on to the ball but the feet and shoulders should be aligned to the right. This will result in the clubface swinging on an inside to outside path and placing the correct spin of the ball so that it curves rather than travels in a straight line.
...mastering golf UK

Pivot Pitching
Eliminate chunks and skulls by using your body and not your hands to move the club. Then standard clubs will most likely work for you. The principle applies to both sexes. Shorter or taller golfers may need to look to the custom club for proper equipment.

Cast Iron or Forged Iron?

Well, the best answer is usually "cast iron".

What makes cast iron the right choice for most? Because of the larger "sweet spot" you tend to find on the cast iron clubs. That refers to the area right in the middle of the club face. The larger "sweet spot" you have, the less likely it is that you will hit a bad shot It makes it a little easier to hit the "bulls eye" every time on your shots. You can see why beginners are usually told to stay with cast iron clubs Their swing is not as consistant as a seasoned golfer or a pro and so they have an easier time driving the ball well with a larger sweet spot at their disposal.

So why are forged clubs even sold?

For a very simple reason. Cast iron is a softer metal that offers a better "feel" on a shot. The better players, on the other hand, will give up that larger sweet spot [and even some distance] to get that better feel of each and every shot they take. With a more consistant swing, they usually strike the ball dead center on most shots anyway. With the better feel of the forged iron club, they can draw, fade, hook or slice the ball deliberately when circumstances on the golf course require it.

The next item to consider is the material for the shaft. Will it be composite or steel?

The significant factor here is club speed. A typical golfer will have a club head velocity between 80-94 mph. A slower swing speed usually signifies you had better think of using a shaft made from composite material . Slower swing speeds mean less distance on your shots. Not a good thing. Composite shafts will allow you to get that much needed distance on your shots. And even within the composite shaft class, you will find variations in flex and materials that will affect your game.

On the other hand, if you already have good distance on your shots due to good swing speed, you can add some touch and feel to your game very similar to that obtained by using the forged iron clubs. You get the best of both worlds.

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

Improve your swing with a great golf swing trainer today!

Golf Snippets

To develop the best possible grip for you. Every golfer swings and grips the club differently. Over 90 percent of golfers use the Vardon or overlapping grip. Players with smaller hands sometimes find the interlocking grip, with the little finger of the right hand interlocked with the index finger of the left hand, works best for them. Players with smaller should use a baseball type grip.
...PGA of America

Two Backswing Flaws You Must Fix for a Spot-On Swing
Because golfers must stand to the side of the golf ball at address, it's easy to understand why many players improperly rotate both the body and golf club away from the ball during the takeaway. Often, this improper rotation assumes the form of an inside takeaway, where the hands and forearms roll clockwise and rotate the clubface open. As soon as the club is taken too far to the inside, it becomes trapped behind the bodyliterally.
...Golf Link

Pivot Pitching
Eliminate chunks and skulls by using your body and not your hands to move the club.

Posture Not Perfect
Unless you're young or unusually flexible, you're not going to look like Tiger Woods at address.

The key to hitting the ball farther with the modern driver and golf ball (which spins much less off of a flat face than balls of the past) is high launch combined with a low spin rate. Our goal is to get enough spin to achieve lift, while minimizing (hopefully eliminating) drag.
...Golf Help

Fairway Bunkers
It goes without saying that if every course designer simply produced holes that were straight, then the game would quickly lose a great deal of the challenge that makes it such an enduring pastime for players. Hence the positioning of hazards such as water, fairway and greenside bunkers and trees.
...mastering golf UK

Pivot Pitching
Eliminate chunks and skulls by using your body and not your hands to move the club. and add 20 yards to your drive!

How To Play Sand Traps

By Lee MacRae

Here are some golf driving tips to make your sand and bunker game better. Take a trip out to the range and see what it does for your score the next time out

Simply because the technique is similar to that used for a level lie from a bunker the sidehill lie is not that tough. While you take into account the affect the slope will have on the flight of the ball, you do not alter the steepness of your swing. A ball above your feet will want to go left. A ball that is below your feet it will tend to go to the right. Just adjust your stance accordto the circumstances and swing along the slope. To make this easier, flex your knees more and stand closer to the ball when it lies below your feet; stand straighter and farther from the ball when it lies above.

Keep in mind that the average sand wedge is designed to hit a ball 40 feet at most. If you have a sand shot that is farther than that, then you will be better off using a pitching wedge to get on the green. A pitching wedge is designed differently, it doesn't have the curve [the bounce] on the bottom of the head. This allows the ball to travel the 10 or 20 extra feet you need on the shot. Just remember to use the right tool for the particular job at hand.

In a sand shot the most important part of the body is the left arm. Think of your left arm as holding a tennis racket hitting a backhand shot [a good image for most shots, but especially so for sand shots]. The left arm initiates tke takeaway and controls the downswing and follow through. It also helps you firm your left side. If you focus too much on your right arm, your left side is likely to collapse, your wrists may break, and you could very easily end up skulling the ball out of the bunker and into further trouble across the green.

Knowing the basic techniques of bunker sand play will alleviate fears. Remaining calm and keeping some simple techniques in mind will turn your sand play in to childs play. Now head off to play golf.

Practice anytime and anywhere with a good golf cage today!

Additional Info On Golf Today

If the shoulders are in a closed position (facing to the right of the target) the clubhead travel will be inside-to-outside of the target line. With the shoulders parallel to the target line at impact, the clubhead travel will be inside-to-direct. This shoulder motion allows the clubhead to travel to the target, not away from the target as in the other positions.Remember the shoulders must remain passive, and are a follower in your swing, not a leader.
...Tom's golf tips

Putting
There are no hard and fast rules about how you address the ball - develop any style you like as long as it delivers a smooth and reliable stroke.
...BBC golf

Two Backswing Flaws You Must Fix for a Spot-On Swing
Because golfers must stand to the side of the golf ball at address, it's easy to understand why many players improperly rotate both the body and golf club away from the ball during the takeaway. Often, this improper rotation assumes the form of an inside takeaway, where the hands and forearms roll clockwise and rotate the clubface open. As soon as the club is taken too far to the inside, it becomes trapped behind the bodyliterally.
...Golf Link

Build An Athletic Platform
Developing a powerful and consistent golf swing always starts with the address position. Tension should be avoided at all costs. Instead, the setup should have a light and bouncy feel that gets you ready to move freely in an athletic way. Tension restricts the body from moving properly and requires the hands and arms to play too active a role in the swing. Rehearse your setup carefully, and your swing will improve.
...Golf Tips magazine

Golf Related News

Titleist Introduces 755 As New Flagship Iron Model

Fri, 11 Aug 2006 00:00:00 GMT

Ochoa runs away with second major title

Mon, 07 Apr 2008 06:29:24 GMT
Rising star Lorena Ochoa fired a final-round 67 to run away with her second straight major title at the Kraft Nabisco.

New Season of Golf Fitness Academy Presented by Titleist Begins Tonight on Golf Channel

Wed, 02 Apr 2008 00:00:00 GMT
Season Premier Features “Power” Episode with Guest Mike Boyle

Titleist Tour Report: EDS Byron Nelson Championship

Fri, 12 May 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Check out this week's Titleist Tour Report, featuring PGA TOUR rookie Camilo Villegas.

TITLEIST ENHANCES SCOTTY CAMERON PUTTER LINE WITH INTRODUCTION OF NEW STUDIO SELECT FAMILY

Thu, 24 Jan 2008 00:00:00 GMT

womens golf clubs
golf
golf swing aid
golf shoes

More information on Hybrid Golf Club

Our Featured Golf Writer

Destroy your golf slice in a matter of minutes using this revolutionary new system!

Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club: What Playing Golf Should Be

Playing golf is one of the most fun experiences you will ever have. An actual shove is illegal. It's only a feel. What gives this shove feel is the stroke is made with a very short backswing and a long followthrough. The advantage of this type of stroke is the shorter the backswing, the less chance of error.
...World Golf

You swing the club by feel, and you learn feel through good motion. Keeping your eye on your shadow will teach you the feel of your upper body staying in position - neither moving to the right or left- nor up or down.
...PGA

Narrow Your Focus
Consistently making short putts is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. To help maintain concentration, find a blade of grass directly in front of the middle of the hole as you prepare to strike the putt. Don't look at the hole itself or the back of it, but simply try to roll the ball over the spot on the front of the hole. Using the front of the hole makes the target closer and makes your focus that much more specific.
...Golf Tips magazine

High-Moi Putter
Blades milled from carbon steel look and feel nice, but they're not forgiving. The principle applies to both sexes. Everyone else will want to consider having clubs made to fit.

Cast Iron or Forged Iron Golf Club?

Standard cast iron golf clubs are the normal way to go.

Why, you ask? Because of the bigger "sweet spot" we tend to find on clubs made with cast iron. The trem refers to the best area on the club face that will give you the maximum range and accuracy on a shot. The larger "sweet spot" you have, the less likely it is that you will hit a bad shot Being a little off center will not affect your shot to any great degree. You can see why beginners are usually told to stay with cast iron clubs Until their swing plane is more developed, they will have an easier time striking the ball on a consistant basis with the cast iron club. That is why clubs like "Big Bertha" came on the market. The large oversized head obviously gives a much larger sweet spot than a normal driver. Average golfers get longer and straighter drives on a more consistant basis.

Conversely, forged iron golf clubs have a much smaller sweet spot and it is far more difficult to hit a ball well with this kind of club.

So why are forged clubs even sold?

For a very simple reason. Cast iron is a softer metal that offers a better "feel" on a shot. The better player, with a more refined and "repeatable" swing, can use this "feel" to shape or control his shot in a way that the beginner can't. The better player doesn't need that larger sweet spot because he can strike the ball dead center with far more consistancy. He trades that off for more control.

The shaft of the club is the next item to look at. What will it be made of? A composite or steel?

The major criteria here is club speed. An average golfer will have a club head speed of 80-94 mph. Lower speeds usually means you should look at a composite shaft. With a slower swing speed comes less distance on your drives. Less distance means more shots needed to reach the putting green. Not a good thing if you want to lower your score.

Determining your own swing speed is not difficult. If you don't have a local pro shop with the right equipment, you can find small microwave Doppler radar devices that are run by AAA batterieson the market. You simply set it near your tee and swing away.

Find a great golf training aid and improve your game!

Some Golf Ideas

Lean Left
It's critical to start and keep your weight toward your front foot during the entire motion of a bunker shot. This encourages the club to sustain its speed through impact, which in turn creates the wave of sand necessary to carry the ball in the air.
...Golf Tips magazine

To learn how variations of the grip affect ball flight. Experiment with slight variations of your grip. Observe how the changes affect the flight of the ball. A weak grip encourages a slice or fade. A strong grip encourages a hook or a draw. The V.s formed by the index finger and thumbs on both hands should point between the chin and right shoulder.
...PGA of America

You swing the club by feel, and you learn feel through good motion. Keeping your eye on your shadow will teach you the feel of your upper body staying in position - neither moving to the right or left- nor up or down.
...PGA

Hitting the ground before the ball, or "fat shots" is a very common problem that can lead to injury. This is caused by either coming into the ball too steeply, and/or decelerating the club head as you hit the ball. Proper weight shift is important and keeping your right shoulder back on the downswing (opposite for left handers) is crucial. There is a tendency to throw the right shoulder ahead as you come down creating an outside in steep club path. Focus on swinging more around your body to remedy this. A good drill is to strap your upper arms to your body and hit balls. This makes it impossible to throw the shoulder forward. Don't forget to accelerate through the ball. When you slow down at the bottom of your swing, you will hit it fat every time.
...PGA Tour

The Hands
The hands should completely reverse themselves from address to impact. Notice how the left wrist is flat while the right has moved from flat to bent back (Above right). This position is a must.
...Golf Tips magazine

Today's Golf News

PRO V1 FOR ALL

Mon, 05 Mar 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Mark Wilson Captures Honda Classic in Four-Player All-Pro V1 Playoff; 20-Year Old Anton Haig Wins Johnnie Walker Classic Against World-Class Field

Acushnet Company Announces Licensing Agreement with Major League Baseball Properties™

Fri, 25 May 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Team Logos Available on Titleist Golf Balls, Golf Bags and Accessories

Off to a Fast Start

Tue, 13 Dec 2005 00:00:00 GMT
Titleist Ambassador Ernie Els Completes Comeback from Knee Surgery

golf training aid
golf gifts | discount golf clubs | golf shoes

My Golf Putting Aid Reviews

Featured Golf Article

You will find a lot of easy tips and techniques in this eBook to quickly transform your golf game and add 20 yards to your drive!

Playing Golf Its All in Your Mind!

By: Randy Friedman

~ Have you ever wondered why your golf game never improves? ~

You might be surprised to learn that its all in your mind! Randy Friedman, an experienced LPGA and Cobra staff golf teaching professional, as well as Motivational mind power Speaker, has a unique perspective for taking your game to the next level.

After years of teaching golfers how to improve their swing or perfect their putting, she has turned her focus to hypnotherapy. According to Friedman, most golfers win or lose their game in their mind. Shes taken her perspective that golf is 90% mental and refocused her approach by helping golfers improve their game through the real stopping point: the mind.

Okay, so some of you skeptics are asking, Does hypnotherapy really work? The answer is yeswhen you truly believe you can change your way of thinking by knowing and changing your self-limiting beliefs.

Golf hypnosis is a simple and effective method that will improve your game by allowing you to deeply relax your body and elevate your mind to a higher place of consciousness. It gives you permission to make changes without changing a thing about your swing! You bypass the conscience mind (the critical factor) and enter the subconscious mind (the non-critical, computer-like) mind. Its there that youre able to squash those old ideas and replace them with new ones.

On a scientific level, hypnosis allows the brain waves to slow down to an alpha or deeper theta state (which is what we do when we sleep). At this level of relaxation, your subconscious mind is open and more receptive to suggestions for change.

Hypnosis will also help you deal with the fear of failing and enable you to focus more effectively at the task at hand. Do you want to improve your game? Hypnotherapy is a great way for you to understand and get in touch with your body, enjoy the game and the course, and feel the grass!

Golf courses are some of the most beautiful places in the world, yet were often so focused on making each shot that we forget to look, smell, and take in the world around us.

So why did a seasoned pro make the switch in her teaching techniques? She knows hypnotherapy works. In fact, some of her favorite clients to teach are children. Children enjoy the game as a game, because they are just playingwithout any fear or baggage. Their minds are cluttered with over-thinking. Its simple for them, and they really enjoy it.

Friedman now wants to give us seasoned pros a chance to embrace that same spirit of simplicity. Prior to her years as a golf pro, Friedman was a personal trainer and massage therapist. That means she understands the body from the inside out.

And if golf is not your game, Friedman can tackle any block you might have, from overcoming a fear of flying (how can you play at some of the best golf resorts around the world?), to becoming more successful at your job. So if you want to find a new way to take your golf game to the next level, hypnotherapy might be your answer.

Friedman offers private sessions, keynote presentations, golf retreats, and half-day workshops. The workshops average $250 per person, which includes a mind power workshop, chipping/putting interactive drills, and a powerful group hypnosis session. For upcoming workshops, check out her Web site. Instead they let their arms hang loosely and hold the putter lightly so both hang like a pendulum from the shoulders.
...BBC golf

Don't worry that once you set the driver down it doesn't align with the ball. The ball isn't on the ground - it's three inches above the ground!
...PGA Tour

Don't grip the club too tightly. A tight grip inhibits a smooth swing and follow-though. Also, keep the grips on your clubs in good condition. Worn grips force you to hold the club too tightly. Replace the grips on your clubs as they get worn and smooth. When first learning the grip, keep a club around the house and practice gripping and regripping the club a few minutes each day. Remember to keep fingers secure and arms relaxed.
...Golf Instruction Guide

Today's Golf News

HAWAII 2-0.

Mon, 15 Jan 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Goydos Captures Sony Open Playing New Pro V1 Prototype Golf Ball

Titleist Tour Report - The Masters

Sat, 08 Apr 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Watch this week's Titleist Tour Report from the Masters.

Tour Report: John Deere Classic

Fri, 14 Jul 2006 00:00:00 GMT
Check out this week's Titleist Tour Report from the John Deere Classic, featuring Titleist golf ball player Chris DiMarco.

PGA Tour Players in Iraq for ''Operation Links''

Mon, 27 Nov 2006 00:00:00 GMT
The USO and Armed Forces Entertainment joined forces with a group of professional golfers last week to provide service members in the Persian Gulf region the opportunity to meet with and learn golf tips from some of the best golfers in the world.

PGA Tour players participating in “Operation Links” included: Corey Pavin, Jerry Kelly, Donnie Hammond, Howard Twitty, and Titleist staff player Frank Lickliter II.
